For the 1st time in Canada [PDF]

The 14th World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf gets under way July 18 at the Montreal Convention Centre. Representatives from 75 countries will gather and share information on the progress made to improve the lives of Deaf people. Chris Kenopic, the President of the Canadian Association of the Deaf and of the Congress will welcome hundreds of participants to take stock of the deaf community's situation in the world.

Art in mouvement [PDF]

Transcending mime, they act with their hands, their face and their body. Nine companies will celebrate deaf culture with varied evening programs of entertainment throughout the Congress. Performers coming from the four corners of the world will showcase the richness of Deaf cultures with programs of magic, theatre, dance and poetry, combining humour and emotion.

High technologies reaching the Deaf [PDF]

During the 14th World Congress of World Federation of the Deaf, which takes place at the Convention Centre in Montreal, July 18 to 26, high technologies will be one of the main concerns. If high technologies improve our daily lives, they mean much more for deaf people, as they help bridge the gap with the hearing world and can play a genuine role in integration of the Deaf. To inform, to communicate, to educate cons-titute the many challenges that some high technologies companies have decided to take on.

Launches of Deafplanet.com [PDF]

Marblemedia is pleased to announce the launch of the project www.deafplanet.com, a television series coupled with a unique interactive educational website that allows Deaf and hearing children to learn together for the first time. The website is being launched in Montreal at the World Congress of the Deaf. The 10 episodes of the television series, will air on TV Ontario and ACCESS TV in Alberta beginning in September. Episodes of the TV show will also be streamed from the website following its launch.

The 14th World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf Looking ahead [PDF]

Montréal, June 10 2003 - The upcoming World Congress of the Deaf, to be held in Montreal July 18 to 26 2003, will focus on the Opportunities and the Challenges in the 21 Century for the deaf community around the world.

Presented in Canada for the first time in its history, the Congress will address a broad array of topics organized within seven commissions: Education, Language and Culture, Human Rights, special Interest Groups and Community Relations, a new and important subject added to the agenda.

OneDayTV has entered an agreement with the Board of the organizing committee for the 14th World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf to be the Media Sponsor. We will be responsible for the news coverage and it will be done through video streaming at the website -  http://www.onedaytv.com. It is open to the public and there is FREE membership.
